My Trip to Australia

Have you ever been to Australia? Well it is so cool. There is heaps of fun things to do, like going for a swim or play outside or even go to the movies. You can do all those kind of stuff at other countries all around the world too. Here is how my trip went.

As soon as I got off the plane I saw my uncle. I knew here was here to drop me and my family off to his house. Before we got to him I said to myself, this is a really cool place.

Just as we arrived to my uncles house, I was so tired I needed to go to sleep. So when I hopped out, I could barely move my legs. I was so tired.

The next morning I woke up and looked outside the window and it was morning. Before I went back to sleep I saw a kid walking to school, and that made me want to go to school as well. "Mum Mum" I shouted.
Can  I go to school mum" I said to her. "You have to wait" My mum replied.

I went to my cousins house after a while. I stayed there for the rest of the day to play. It was so cool there.

Finally I went with my mum to enroll for a school. I was so excited as soon as I went. It was the first time going to a school in Australia, so I was looking forward.

Sadly the day ended. At least my Birthday was coming up very soon. I could not wait.

Re-Crafting

Today we practised re-crafting a piece of writing. The first one belongs to Aldora and the second is mine.

“Oh my god” I said, I never knew cross country was going to be so hard and long. When I got half way I started to sprint so I could catch up to some girls but sadly I didn’t. I was getting closer to the finish line and I was so proud of myself.

Approaching half-way, I began to sprint. I felt exhausted , but I kept on running because I wanted to catch up to the other girls.Feeling gutted, I made my way closer to the finish line. I just wasn't fit enough to keep up with them. How fit do you think you are?

Liu Xiang

Sprinting down the track as fast as I could, I finally I came to the first hurdle. “Boing, I jumped over the hurdle but........Nek Minute,I crashed and I hurt myself.

Ouch, My achilles tendon were hurt really badly. “NOW, MY COUNTRY IS GOING TO KILL ME”, I said in my head. Getting ready for action, my country wanted me to win. “GO”. Off I ran. “Oh man they're gonna kill me if I don’t win this race, I have to win this“Come on Liu xiang you can do it” I said to myself.

Sitting on the track, I went hopping out the track with embarrassment. As I went inside, someone came to me and said, “You are not allowed to go in the tunnel Liu Xiang”. I turned around and hopped back down the track.

Can I make it to the end? As I was nearly there, I stopped and kissed one hurdle. Making it to the end, two of my competitors came and helped me. Finally a rest. “I think I should retire”, I said to myself.

Thanks Panasonic

At assembly today on Friday, Paul from Panasonic came to Pt England and presented to us a camera and also two microphones because room thirteen won and had worked hard to make a storyboard for a competition that panasonic runs every year and it’s called Kids Witness News. Since we have the camera we now have to make the movie, so that means we have not won completely. I hope that we win next time so that some of us can go over seas.

Panasonic is a cool company.. If I had to choose the best company in the world, it would be Panasonic. I mean there aren’t that many companies that would be generous. (There are some companies that are kind like telecom)

Thank you Panasonic for the camera and the equipment. You are so generous. Thank you very much.

THANKS PANASONIC!!!!!!!!!

Cross Country Training

Walking down to the corner of the court, I felt like not doing the cross country training. Teachers are so mean. Every minute I was just hoping it would rain. Why oh why?

Sprinting down the path and struggling to breathe, I began slowing down. My legs were aching and they were filled with pain, but I did not want to give in. As I started to get closer to the finish, my heart started to beat faster and faster. I started to think about what the real cross country would be like.

I was filled with joy as soon as I finished. And although I was a little bit exhausted, I was pleased at the same time. I hope that next time I do this I will just jog and not sprint. My goal for cross country is to win.

Olympic Flame

The Olympic Flame is ignited by the sun in Olympia, Greece. The Olympic Flame must keep on burning until the closing of the ancient Olympic games.

The tradition still continues to these days. The Olympic Flame is lit by a curved mirror that reflects the heat of the sun onto the Olympic Flame. It is performed by a woman dressed in ancient style robes.
.
The lighting of the flame is a very important event at the Olympic stadium. It keeps alight until the games are concluded.

Olympics

This term I think we a really going to find out more about the Olympics because this term our topic is Go for gold. I really hope that I could learn about my favourite sports, boxing and running. We might even be able to find out more about famous olympians like Peter Snell, Jesse Owens and also Usain Bolt.

I am really looking forward to learn about the olympics. I wonder what’s still going to come this term. Maybe we would get a chance to try out and experience more things about the Olympics.

The big spider.

Imagine having a big black spider in your classroom or house. Do you think that will be scary? Well I think it will.

“Ok kids it’s time to take the fabrics off the wall” said Miss King. As we took it down the spider suddenly moved all around and went somewhere else because we had disturbed it. It was angry at us.

The spider in our classroom looked really scary and huge. I felt like it was going to bite someone, but it didn’t. Luckily no one was hurt.

Art Gallery

OK we are going to go to the Art Gallery” Miss King said. “Hooray! I shouted. I have never been to an Art Gallery before so this was my first time. Off we went.

The first second I stepped into the Art Gallery Place at our school, I was amazed by the amazing artwork we have all done. These piece of art were really cool and really. That’s the thing that caught my eye.

My favourite piece of art was Mikaiah Hopani’s artwork, he did a picasso style but drew bruno mars. As I walked towards the stage I stopped and looked at this cool picture that had a tree in it. It displayed lots of colours that stood out.

It was the last minute to have a look around and I went to look at our classroom’s art work. I was proud of my artwork. We sadly had to go when time was up.

Thanks to the PEPA group for performing to us. You really did a good job.

Youthtown

Hooray today is the day to go to Youthtown! The reason why we went was because we had a trip organised. Actually we usually go on trips every year and I just knew this was a fun trip.

Ring ring, went the to bell. “ Hooray it’s time to go to the trip “ I shouted with joy. As I got prepared I asked my buddy if he was eager to go on the trip. He was really eager and so was I. I was just dying to go to Youthtown.

As I hopped out of the bus I said to my buddy “Finally we're here aye Iisa”.
“Yeah” Replied Iisa.
Entering this wonderful place, we met two ladies named Georgia and Sue. The air was filled with the smell of chlorine.

The art room was right ahead so soon then I knew we were going to go to there. I was right, we had entered the art room, so I found a seat that was next to my mate. I wondered what were we going to make. The second Sue had said we were making a bowl with glass in the clay that’s when the fun started.

I started by making coils and adding them to my squared clay like a rim. It was fun. Now was time to hatch cross my designs(Hatch Crossing is like doing x’s). When I had finished my last design I then moved onto putting glass on my bowl. By the time I had finished I was proud of myself.

This was easily the best activity we had done. ‘Swimming Time’ Swimming was the thing we
were waiting for and finally we had the chance to go swimming. Off we went to get changed.

I leaped into the pool like a frog and it gave a big, huge splash. When I hopped into the pool I had noticed that it was really warm and I mean really warm, it was like a spa pool but colder. The water moved back and forth and back and forth because we were having lots of fun playing tiggy.

It was time to get changed and go play mini soccer. We had a challenge against the girls and we planned that whoever loses has to be dared. Guess what, the boys won. The girls were so angry at us cause we won.

Sadly the day ended. It was the best time we had ever had at Youthtown. My favourite thing was swimming and playing mini soccer. I’m going to have fun daring those girls. I hope we can come here next year. I don’t even know if we will. Do you think we will?

Snow In Christchurch

Light snowflakes tumbled lightly down like a feather. Settling on the fluffy tree tops and covering the landscape. Brrrrr, it was freezing.

Skidding and sliding on the icy roads, people were urged to exercise caution. The severe storm has affected many people and made them freeze. The temperature plunged overnight to  -7*C.

What do you think this painting?

Composition IV displays mixed swirling colours and soaring lines.

The painting is strongly divided by two black thick swords in the centre. On the left hand side you will notice that there is violent motion expressed by sharp and jagged lines, and on the right it is calm.

As you can see in the middle you will spot red hatted cossacks that stands before a blue mountain holding black swords. Next to them a third white bearded cossack leans on his purple sword.

The lower left depicts a boat and a rainbow and on top is a battle of two cossacks on a horseback. On the lower right two cossacks lie on a hill while two priests watch on.

Abstract art

Abstract artists changed the normal idea of art. These artists were rebels. They changed the pieces of real art and was judged by with the whole world.

Artist now began to care about the process of art. They soon then experimented with the way of how abstract paintings had used the paint, canvas and tools and paid close attention to the texture, colour and shape.

Abstract paintings contains very different shapes, of colour and designs that are not very similar to real objects. When people look at the paintings of abstract, they would have no idea or could not understand what they are seeing.

Abstract art seems to be about the way of emotions that the person has felt about the colour and design that displays in Abstract painting and it opens up yourself and lets in energy.

Robyn Kahukiw (Hine or Waihine

In extension we have been working on a project which is called Waihine or just Hine. Our teacher had found a picture and shared it with the whole class. So then we had to draw the image that was shown on the whiteboard. I knew I had to finish immediately. At the end I actually did. Before time had run out I was panicking. (OMG I am never going to finish in time) If my movie was bad then I think i should work harder next time and I mean really work hard by focusing and paying attention. My favorite bit during the session was drawing the picture of Hine. I wanted to find out why every feature on Hine is so big.
Hope you Like my movie
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
Sit back and relax.

How I made the movie with the music:

Well I first used a picture from the internet and then added the music.

What a day at the swimming pool.

Have you ever been to the pools? Room thirteen has. The moment as it was twelve o’clock we had to get changed into our togs and leave immediately.

Off we went to the Glen Innes Pools. “Hurry up you lads, we are almost going to be late” Miss King shouted. Skipping along the grass, I was so eager and filled with anticipation.

Finally we had arrived. Entering the entrance with excitement, I just thought about the big pool because it is usually cold. We I just have to see for myself.

Splash I hopped into the cold water. The talented instructor told us to do backstroke. (Backstroke is a stroke used in swimming) Furiously paddling across the pool, I was afraid that I might sink where the water rises up.

Sadly swimming time was done. “Why does it have to be the end” I sadly said. I jumped out  and sighed.

My own little poem

Swimming time

As we got to the pool with our togs
we leaped into the water just like frogs

Jumping into the water we thought we would crash
But instead we gave a great big SPLASH!!!

Running  out of air and starting to freeze
I lifted my head so I could breathe

Iisa overtook me in the big pool
And I gave a loud shout “ come back here you fool

Near the end where the water rose up and was high
“Why does it have be deep” I shouted and cried

Swimming time was over, finished and done
But the weather was still cold we just needed the sun

Spinning disk

This movie is about a spinning disk that looks like a magnet. The spinning disk wasn't what I thought it was. I could not believe how long it could spin for. It was like a coin spinning and spinning.

Tissue Paper Flower Artwork

Intensely painting my background, I patiently waited for my artwork to dry.

Creating each shape with the tissue paper, that was strewn across the classroom, I finally made each flower shapes.

Step by step, we glued each part of the flower onto our background.

Tissues were lying everywhere after I had finished painting my artwork with vibrant colors.

Shalom Art Alive, Melted Crayon Art Work

Art Alive is our topic for this term, so that means we learn about artists and everything about Art. “ Do you know anything about art? “ Well we just experienced a little bit about it yesterday, I mean we created art. . Creating art is fun!

To create our drippy art work, the first thing we did was to glue each crayon onto the cardboard we had been given. In the meantime, I painted the stencils. Trying to get my group to stop arguing about turns, I ignored them and kept on going with the work. “ Can I have a turn, Nah don’t give it to him Shalom “ Paula argued.

Melting the crayons on top of the canvas was the best part of the activity. Making the crayons drip, ( By using a hairdryer) we soon noticed that the crayons colors had hardened. The colors had mixed together to form blended colors..

Melting crayons was my favorite bit of making the drippy artwork. It turned out well in the end and so colorful too.
It was fun.

Origami, Paper cups

These paper cups are made from origami. Origami is a japanese art. It mainly contains paper folding in it without using scissors to cut the shape. I can't believe people know how to make things with paper

We made some paper cuts that were useful to use if you had no cup. But it got soaked anyway. It was really cool discovering how to create things.

What a day at The Blues Vs Sharks game

Have you ever been to a rugby game at EDEN PARK? Well I have, I mean me and my family  actually went to the Blues and Sharks game. It was my second time being to a rugby game because the other game I went to was the Crusaders and Blues.

As foot just stepped on board I squished my way through each little gap. The train was crowded with people everywhere. "Move Please"

Just before we got off the train at Kingsland I told my dad if we were almost there. " It's just across the road " My dad replied. Yes.

Finally we had got there, so we took a seat after searching for where we sit. Wow. If you had stepped inside Eden Park you would of been amazed.

As the game started I cheered GO THE BLUES!!! Screaming loudly, the crowd got wild for the blues. This was cool.

Every point was to make blues win. Who wouldn't like that team. LET'S GO BLUES LET'S GO!!!

At the end my team had lost by a 23 to 29. Just one more try and they would of won.

My favorite part of the game was when we cheered and cheered.

A book I have been reading.

My best book of
Weather

The weather can affect our daily lives, so we are told what what it will be like in the time ahead of us. This is called weather forecasting. Weather forecasting is the same thing like what we see on 3 News. The study of weather is called meteorology, and the experts who does this are known as Meteorologists. Meteorologists uses tools such as a thermometer, anemometer, weather aeroplanes, and weather stations that can help them study the weather or you could say weather forecast.

It has helped me with my basic facts and addition. Xtramath is now helping me learn subtraction. Who ever made xtramath is so cool because I can’t wait to be brainy.

Trip to One tree hill in 2011

The sun shone on me as I walked towards One Tree Hill. “Really, do I have to climb that mountain?”. Finally, I managed to get to the top. Wow this is a beautiful view of Auckland.
Sliding back down the mountain felt like sliding into a enormous black hole. Scary!

ROW (Rock Our World)

ROW (Rock our world, It was made in 2008) has a focus on poetry. This is our intro to it, a Haiku about Mrs Tele'a. Rock our world was made so that schools around the world can particapate to share their work with Rock our world. I think that is why. Carol Anne McGuire is actually the one who made up or say created this. It is a Global kind of thing.

And this a Haiku and how you actually how you create one.

First five syllables
Second seven syllables
Third five syllables

A Haiku has five syllables in the first sentence and seven in the second. For the last one it has five syllables. And that is what you call a Haiku.

e.g

Mrs Tele'a
A yellow watch hangs on her
And she’s a teacher

Chocolate is brown
Though it has sugar
I will never frown
